Preseason 2024/25: Triestina 2-3 Torres

Triestina concluded their training camp in Ravascletto with a joint session against Torres, who finished second in Serie C's Group B last season.

Triestina took the lead early with Lescano scoring in the 5th minute, capitalizing on Zaccagno's save from a shot by El Azrak from just outside the Sardinian penalty area. In the 13th minute, Roos made an excellent low save to deny Varela. Shortly after, in the 18th minute, Attys's persistent play on the edge of the box set up Bijleveld, who scored with a left-footed shot past Zaccagno at the near post for the second goal.

Correia came close to a third with a left-footed effort in the box, while at the other end, Brentan narrowly missed with a header from a Guiebre cross. Torres reduced the deficit in the 44th minute with Varela's low strike in the heart of the area past Roos. El Azrak had a breakaway in the 47th minute, but Zaccagno saved his powerful strike.

At the start of the second half, Triestina nearly scored a third in quick succession with chances from Attys and Correia. However, in the 60th minute, Varela's determined play in the box resulted in the equalizer for Torres. Midway through the half, Fischnaller's header from a corner hit the post, and in the 77th minute, Scotto turned in a Zecca cross from the right to give the Sardinians a 3-2 lead. In the final stages, Akpa Akpro went close to leveling with a left-footed shot over the bar from a good position, but the score remained unchanged, securing a comeback victory for Torres.

Santoni: "I saw a first half-hour where we were playing very well. We took a two-goal lead and had several chances to score a third. Then we became less fresh, and they took control—being a more established team in a different phase of their preparation, given that they debut in the Coppa Italia Serie A next week. In the second half, we restarted with more energy, creating two big scoring chances right away, but then the physical aspect came into play again. Overall, it was an excellent test compared to Lazio, especially for those of our players who are not yet familiar with Serie C football. Now they know what to expect when the matches are worth three points. The training camp assessment is positive; my main goal was to instill my football philosophy in them. Now we need to fine-tune the details, complete the squad, and be ready not just to play good football but to fight hard as well".

Germano: “We knew the season they had last year and that we were up against a strong team. There are many things to fix, but also many things we did quite well. At a certain point, there was a bit of a physical drop, but that's normal at this stage. We need to take the positives from this test and address what needs correcting. The coach is introducing a new style of play, which I really like because it's proactive. We're trying to do everything he asks from us, and the pitch will ultimately show us what we deserve".

Moretti: "My brother spoke very highly of the club and the fans, so as soon as the opportunity arose, I seized it. This is an ambitious club that does things the right way, and it's truly a great place to be. The ambition is to have a standout season, and this was a strong motivating factor for me to come here. I also greatly appreciated the club's determination to sign me permanently. My strengths lie in man-marking, but I also don't shy away from playing the ball. I'm confident that with the coach's guidance, I can only improve".
