Serie C 2024/25: Pro Patria 0-0 Triestina
Triestina aimed to close the gap from the relegation zone, while Pro Patria sought redemption to escape the danger zone. The match at Stadio Speroni was high-stakes. Clotet had to manage without Olivieri, opting for the Vertainen-Krollis duo up front, with D’Urso in a supporting role. The rest of the lineup mirrored the team that drew with AlbinoLeffe. Colombo fielded an experienced core, with Alcibiade commanding a three-man defense, Nicco anchoring the midfield, and Beretta spearheading the attack, partnered by Pitou.
Early in the match, Beretta tested Roos with a shot comfortably saved, and Krollis sent in a promising cross that Rovida claimed in a high catch. In the 9th minute, Pro Patria posed their first threat as Piran’s close-range left-footed shot from a slight angle forced Roos into a body save. Triestina responded swiftly, with Alcibiade intercepting a cross intended for Vertainen, who was ready to tap in Attys’ delivery from the right. Shortly afterward, Krollis struck a powerful left-footed shot from twenty meters, which narrowly cleared the bar.
Triestina nearly scored in the 19th minute, with D’Urso lifting a precise chip from the midfield line. Vertainen controlled expertly in the box and unleashed a tight left-footed volley, missing by a whisker. Again, Triestina threatened around the 30th minute, with a swift counterattack initiated by Vertainen and finished by Krollis inside the box, only for Bashi to block it near the goal line. Krollis attempted another shot from twenty meters in the 36th minute, deflected slightly over the crossbar by a defender. Triestina maintained greater possession and territorial dominance, but the first half concluded scoreless.
Pro Patria started the second half stronger, with a cross-shot from Pitou in the opening seconds and a flick by Sassaro from a corner in the 5th minute, securely handled by Roos. A shot from Attys in the 10th minute, following a cohesive team move, forced Rovida into a diving save. In the 16th minute, Pitou attempted a shot from twenty meters, parried by Roos in another dive. Pro Patria’s offensive surge continued, with Mehic shooting from inside the box, only for Roos to deny him with a spectacular dive.
Triestina regained some ground around the 30th minute, winning three corners in quick succession but failing to trouble Rovida. The game remained balanced and without major highlights until the 90th minute when Germano’s effort from twenty meters narrowly missed the top corner. In the 3 minutes of stoppage time, Pro Patria came close through Toci, who shot weakly at Roos from Nicco’s through ball, ending the last opportunity of an evenly contested match. Triestina showed strength in the first half, while Pro Patria pressed more in the second, though without creating clear-cut chances. Triestina left Busto Arsizio with a point.
