Artur Ionita joins Triestina
US Triestina Calcio 1918 are pleased to announce the acquisition of midfielder Artur Ioniță from Calcio Lecco 1912.
Ioniță, 34, has signed a contract with Triestina until June 30, 2026.
The Moldovan midfielder began his career with Zimbru Chișinău in his home country before spending four significant years at Aarau in Switzerland. In 2014, he made his move to Italy, where he played in Serie A from the 2014/15 season to the 2020/21 campaign. During this period, he made 221 appearances, scored 14 goals, and provided 12 assists across the league and Coppa Italia with Hellas Verona, Cagliari, and Benevento.
With Benevento, Ioniță also competed in Serie B in the 2021/22 season, recording 41 appearances, 2 goals, and 1 assist across the league, playoffs, and Coppa Italia. Over the following two seasons, he continued in Serie B, representing Pisa and Modena (26 appearances, 1 goal, and 1 assist) and, last season, Lecco, where he contributed with 36 appearances, 4 goals, and 4 assists.
In the first half of the current season, Ioniță played with Lecco, making 15 appearances (including his last match on Sunday at the Rocco against Triestina), where he scored twice and delivered an assist.
Ioniță’s distinguished career also includes 75 caps and 5 goals for the Moldovan National Team, along with being named Moldovan Footballer of the Year in 2014 and 2019.
